Remedies for the common cold

Best used in the first 24 hours of symptoms.
For colds that come on suddenly, especially after exposure to cold, dry wind or a shock/fright. The nose may be just beginning to run, and the child is often anxious and restless.

Ideal in the early stages of a cold, with mild fever, fatigue, and pink cheeks. It’s a great in-between remedy when aconite doesn’t quite fit. Use when the cold is starting to brew but not fully developed. Child isn’t usually anxious like aconite. Can also use as a cell salt all the way through.

When mucus is thick, yellow or green but flows easily. The child is tearful, clingy, and wants cuddles. Little or no thirst. Symptoms are worse indoors and at night, and better in fresh air.

For colds with watery nasal discharge that may resemble uncooked egg white or becomes thick and white. Frequent sneezing and dry, cracked lips. Child may want to be left alone.

For colds with thin, burning nasal discharge, chills, and exhaustion. It may make the nose or top lip look red and sore. The child may be anxious, restless and feel worse at night. There’s often thirst for frequent small sips and a desire for warmth.

For colds with burning nasal discharge and copious eye watering. Lots of sneezing and nasal dripping, made better in open air.

When mucus is thick, stringy, sticky, and yellow, especially with sinus pain or post-nasal drip. The nose may be blocked, but discharges are hard to blow out. Pain may be felt at the bridge of the nose or on the cheeks.

For colds with a blocked nose at night and runny nose in the day. There’s lots of sneezing, irritability, chilliness and oversensitivity to everything — lights, smells, noise.
The child may be worse in the morning and after stimulation or overindulgence.

For colds where you see it in their face, a heaviness, fatigue, droopy eyelids. Useful when the child seems weak, wants to lie down and has chills. Often comes with headache and flu-like symptoms and they wont want to move around as the body can often ache.
